Video games as a screen-interactive platform of historical media education: educational potential and risks of politicization

Screen culture today, absorbing verbal-narrative and written culture, is the dominant memorial-representative format for reproduction, preservation broadcast of cultural information. Among varieties screen since beginning 21st century, video games have become especially popular widespread. They possess unique interactive-procedural qualities, which, together with traditional grammar narrative, create an original complex rhetorical techniques that effectively influence mass public consciousness. In turn, plot visual design often based on historical narratives, becoming a platform virtual interactive reconstruction history. The study devoted to up-to-date topic analyzing on-screen phenomenon as innovative media education, identifying its educational potential risks political distortion methodological basis cultural-civilizational, dialectical approaches, well structural-functional analysis, comparative-political science approach systemic method. made it possible identify wide range classify modalities implementation topics in them general potential. addition, fundamental deconstructive nature actualization metanarrative procedural-interactive architectonics has been determined. Finally, three main strategies distorting falsifying history revealed. According results study, was revealed almost every significant era, emphasis military battle plots, reflected game format. These projects serious potential, procedurally immersing gamer context facts, aesthetics era internal determinants dynamics. At same time, postmodern essence established, which poses threat invariance perception history, latently encouraging intentions rewrite it.
